The key to creating the future data center is for vendors to offer you as a customer what they really need today for tomorrow’s future.
…Large technology vendors…tend to say they care about their customers, and perhaps they do, but they’re also very keen to sell their wares – from servers to network infrastructure. Add the discussions about being at “the edge”, and you will find yourself in quite a jungle that’s arguably becoming much harder to navigate…

Increasingly, organizations are turning to electric vehicles (EVs) while setting goals to reduce emissions and improve operational fleet efficiency.
However, there are implications on changing the powertrain of a vehicle and how it’s managed in fleet operations. Noah Gates, senior product owner at Omnitracs, says he’s noticed that one of the biggest trends at the moment is the use of telematics data to drive autopilot systems in EVs. “Telematics data is also providing information about those systems to Tesla, which is being used to refine the technology,” he adds. From Tesla’s perspective, the aim is to improve the self-driving capabilities of its vehicles while making the data readily available for legal purposes…

Online marketing offers many advantages over its traditional brethren from a metrics perspective. You can, for example, examine click-through-rates to a promotion, to a blog or to an article to your website, and with eCommerce you then analyse whether that online interaction has led to a number of sales. At the core of this marketing effort is also the ability to collate customer data, which can be used with the help of a customer relationships management (CRM) system to learn more about your customers to improve sales and customer service to develop profitable customer relationships.
To achieve the same level of data collation and analysis with traditional offline marketing techniques would take much more time, effort and money. It’s also often said that customers have become more demanding because the vast majority of us is able to connect to the internet while on the move via our smartphones, tablet devices and laptops. This customer requirement for immediacy therefore brings us to the benefits of offering live chat as one of the ways for offering them an omnichannel experience, and to improve the ability of companies to resolve customer queries and issues.

Santa is expecting to receive so many letters, emails and website enquiries this Christmas that he’s worried he might just have to stay at home. The thing is, he’s not sure that his wide area network and data centre can cope with the ever-increasing data volumes. There are also fewer houses with suitable chimneys to climb down, or fewer fire places to warm the cockles. To make things worse, Rudolf has put in a request for a seasonal holiday after a tough year full of uncertainty about the future as we approach 2019. His data centre team are ready to step in, but they’re concerned about data latency.
